Ege’nin saklı köylerinden Şirince, 2012 yılındaki kıyamet efsanesiyle dünya gündemine gelmişti. Maya uygarlığının takvimini yorumlayan bir gruba göre 21 Aralık 2012’de kıyamet kopacak, dünyada sadece iki yer kıyametten kurtulacaktı. Bunlardan biri Şirince köyü, diğeri ise Fransa’nın güneyindeki Bugarach köyüydü. Bu söylenti köye dünyanın her yerinden insan akın etmesine ve uluslararası basında haber olmasına neden oldu. Şirince’yi son yıllarda turistik bir çekim merkezi haline getiren özelliklerinin başına ünü gün geçtikçe yayılan meyve şarapları geliyor. Şirince, İzmir’in Selçuk İlçesi’ne bağlı, ilçeye 8 km uzaklıkta bir köy. Köyün doğası ve dinginliği sizi henüz yoldayken kollarına alıyor. Köyde sizi yemyeşil doğa, lavantalar ve papatyalar karşılıyor. Şirince’de bağcılık, zeytincilik yapılıyor; kiraz ve şeftali gibi meyveler yetiştiriliyor. Şirince, yemyeşil doğasıyla özellikle büyükşehirlerde yaşayanlar için bir kaçamak ve dinlenme noktası.
