Ağrı Dağı yüzyıllardır birçok insan için Türkiye topraklarındaki en ulaşılmaz ve zor konumlardan birisi olmuştur. Listeye koymamızın sebebi ise en yüksek dağlarımızdan birisi olması ve zorlu iklim koşullarıdır. Dağcılık sporuna yeni başlayanlar için ideal bir adres değilken, yine de kesin olarak söyleyebiliriz ki Dağcılığa gönül vermiş herkesin mutlaka hedeflerinden birisi Ağrı Dağı zirvesine çıkmaktadır. Bu sebepten dolayı en önemli yerlerin başında gelmektedir.
Ağrı dağı eski bir yanardağdır ve şu an pasif durumdadır. Ağrı Dağı zirvesi tam 5 bin 137 metreden oluşur. Kaba bir hesapla yerden yukarı doğru tam 5 kilometre. Yüksekliği, buzul yapısı, kar sınırına kadar bulunan yeşil alanları sebebiyle hem yaz hem de kış sezonu boyunca tırmanma imkanları bulunur. Eğlenceli bir süreç olmakla birlikte soğukluğun -30 derece civarına kadar düşebileceği unutulmamalıdır. Eli isimli köyden yola çıkıldıktan sonra yaklaşık 8 saatlik yürüyüşün ardından 2 bin metrelere kadar gelinir. Burada genel olarak kullanılan bir kamp alanı bulunur. Genel olarak dağcılar burada bir gün dinlenir ve ertesi gün 5 saatlik zorlu bir yürüyüşle birlikte 4 bin metre seviyelerine gelinir. Burada ikinci kamp alanı kurulur ve bundan sonraki gün, zirveye çıkış süreci başlar. Yaklaşık 10 saat sürebilen zorlu bir tırmanış ile birlikte Ağrı Dağı zirvesine, Anadolu’nun en yüksek noktasına ulaşılır.
