TAM 23 YIL HİÇ DURMADAN GEZDİ
Kanadalı gezgin Mike Spencer Bown, gerçekten sıradışı bir gezgin. 1990 yılında çıktığı yoldan, tam 23 yıl sonra evine döndü. Neredeyse dünyadaki ülkelerin tamamına yakını olan 190 ülkeyi gezen Bown, kendisini turist değil, gezgin olarak tanımlıyor.
Kendisinin kesinlikle bir turist olmadığını belirten Bown, The Sun gazetesine konuyla ilgili verdiği röportajda, “ülkelere ayak basmanın” gezgin olmak için yeterli olmadığını söyledi. Gittiği yerlerde halkla içiçe olmaya çabalayan Bown, birçok yerde kısa süreli işlerde de çalıştı ve hiçbir zaman bir turist gibi gezmekle yetinmedi.
Dünyanın birçok tehlikeli bölgesini de ziyaret eden Kanadalı gezgin, 2010’da Somali’nin başkenti olan Mogadişu’yu, 20 yıl süren iç savaştan sonra ziyaret eden ilk gezgin oldu. Somali’deyken Türkiye tişörtü giydiği için casus sanıldı ve tam 4 kez ülkeden uzaklaştırılmak istendi, fakat her seferinde bir şekilde ülkede kalmak için bir yöntem buldu.
Nike Spencer Bown hayatını gezmeye adadı ve 21 yaşında ayrıldığı evine 44 yaşında döndü. Bu sırada da yaşadığı en unutulmaz 10 deneyimi şu şekilde sıraladı:
1- Everest’in tepesinden dünyaya bakmak. 2- Tanzanya’da hayvan sürülerinin büyük göçüne tanıklık etmek. 3- Peru’da Machu Picchu’daki İnka yolunu yürümek. 4- Alpler’in herhangi bir yerinde şarap ve peynir keyfi yapmak. 5- Ruanda’da gümüş sırtlı gorillerle yüz yüze gelmek. 6- Şam’da nargile içen insanlarla oturmak. 7- Sibirya demir yollarında körkütük sarhoş olmak. 8- Ürdün’ün Petra mağaralarında Indiana Jones’çuluk yapmak. 9- Fas’ta hipopotamlardan kaçmak için küreklere asılmak. 10- Kongo’daki Pigme kabileleriyle birlikte yapraktan bir kulübede yaşamak.
